In pursuit of a digital «mold», digital documenting of life, millions of photos are taken daily. [One] was there, ate, walked, met, bought, etc. — a typical subject of chronicle pictures. The photo often becomes one sort of a peculiar “scanner” that fixes and documents any event. Universal»digitization» of life has assumed a scale of skanomania, obsession with the idea of constant digital documentation. With its help many people build a parallel virtual life on social networks, sometimes even more attractive than reality itself. Manipulations with photography attract an increasing number of followers. However, the flow of real life is left outside the framework of those pictures. Tourists frequently fail to absorb the spirit of a historical place; very few people catch wind ashore. Feelings give way to continuous scanning, «digitization», obtaining a flat 2-D picture.

All the images within the provided series were made with a scanner and thus are “scanographs”.
